Nick Scott Jr.
Vice President
Nick Scott Jr. is the Vice President and a third-generation owner of Scott Enterprises, a family-owned and operated hospitality company based in Erie, Pennsylvania. With more than three decades of experience in the industry, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the company’s strategic direction, overseeing daily operations, and advancing its community engagement efforts.
A 1995 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management, Nick was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and a four-year walk-on athlete for Penn State’s Varsity Soccer Team. His game-winning goal in the 1993 Big Ten Championship marked Penn State’s first Big Ten title in any sport.
Together with his father, Nick Scott Sr., and brother, Chris N. Scott, Nick Jr. leads and inspires a workforce of more than 2,000 associates across 24 properties throughout Northwestern Pennsylvania and Western New York. These include national hospitality brands such as Applebee’s, Marriott, Hilton, Wyndham, IHOP, Quaker Steak & Lube, and Sola Salon Studios, as well as signature destinations such as Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park Resort — named #2 in the nation by USA Today — Roma’s Italian Kitchen, and Peek’n Peak Resort in Clymer, NY. Today, Scott Enterprises welcomes over 4 million guests each year and manages an active development pipeline exceeding $50 million.
Nick also played a central role in developing Harbor Place, the company’s most ambitious project to date. Launched in 2018, this $150 million mixed-use development transformed Erie’s Bayfront, thanks to a $5 million RACP grant and $25 million in private investment. Phase One included:
-
The Hampton Inn & Suites Bayfront, offering modern accommodations with panoramic waterfront views.
-
Oliver’s Rooftop Restaurant, named the Most Romantic Restaurant in Pennsylvania.
-
Oliver’s Beer Garden, featuring craft beer, live music, stunning bay views, and a family-friendly mini golf course.
Looking ahead, Nick is leading the development of Phase Two of Harbor Place, which will include a new AC Marriott hotel, a rooftop bar and lounge, and a seasonal ice skating rink, expected to open in 2026.
Nick was a driving force behind the launch of Scott Enterprises’ “We Promise to Care” initiative — a company-wide commitment to delivering exceptional guest service, nurturing associate well‑being, and supporting the communities it serves. Under his leadership, Scott Enterprises earned the Employer of the Year award from the Erie County Economic Development Corporation and was a finalist for the Commitment to Erie Awards in 2012 and 2013.
A proud graduate of Leadership Erie, Nick was honored with the Young Erie Professionals Generation-E Leadership Award in 2007. He remains deeply involved in regional development and service, and has served on numerous community boards, including:
-
UPMC Hamot Health Foundation Board of Trustees
-
UPMC Hamot Medical Center Board of Directors
-
Penn State Behrend Council of Fellows Executive Board
-
VisitErie Board of Directors
-
Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership – Growth Partnership Committee
-

-
CNB Bank Board of Directors
Nick is also a passionate advocate for early childhood education and has served on the Success By 6 Committee (United Way), the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission (appointed by the Governor), and the Early Childhood Education Advisory Panel (Erie Community Foundation).
Nick is most proud of his family: his wife, Karen (Penn State ’95), and their four children — Nicholas, Will, Zach, and Katie.
